1. Overview

Doowit SMS Manager is an Android app that turns your device into an SMS gateway for the Doowit and Esmisys messaging platforms. It sends text messages that have been queued on your Doowit/Esmisys account, reports delivery status back to those platforms, and can automatically reply to incoming messages based on rules you create.

This policy explains exactly what data the app accesses, where it is stored, and what is (and is not) transmitted off your device.

2. What the App Accesses

SMS messages

Your personal incoming messages are never uploaded to Doowit, Esmisys, or any other server. They are processed only on your device for auto-reply matching.

Network access

The app connects to the internet to communicate with the messaging platform servers (see Section 4).

3. Permissions and Why They're Used

Permission Why it's needed
Read SMS Match incoming messages against auto-reply rules; avoid duplicate replies
Send SMS Send platform-queued, scheduled, and auto-reply messages
Receive SMS Detect new incoming messages to trigger auto-reply checks
Internet Communicate with Doowit/Esmisys servers
Foreground Service Keep the message-polling service running reliably
Post Notifications Show service status and sent-message notifications
Schedule Exact Alarm Send delayed auto-replies and scheduled messages at the correct time
Receive Boot Completed Restart the polling service after the device reboots

The app does not request access to your contacts, phone number, location, camera, microphone, or device storage.

4. Data Sent to Servers

The app communicates with two platforms, depending on which account(s) you connect:

All connections use HTTPS (encrypted in transit).

What is sent to these servers:

What the app retrieves from these servers:

What is NOT sent to any server:

5. Data Stored on Your Device

All data below is stored locally on your device only.

Credentials (encrypted)

API keys, secrets, server key, and device name are stored using Android's encrypted storage (EncryptedSharedPreferences). If encryption is unavailable on your device, a non-encrypted fallback store is used.

Settings

Polling intervals, notification preferences, automation on/off state, and your configured messaging hours.

Message log and automation data

You can remove this data by disconnecting your account(s) and/or clearing the app's data.

6. Device Backups

The app currently allows Android's standard app-backup mechanism. Depending on your device settings, this may include app data (such as settings and locally stored data) in system-level backups.

7. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

The app contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. No usage or behavioral data is collected or shared with third parties.

8. Data Retention

9. Third-Party Services

When you use this app, message data is handled by the Doowit and/or Esmisys platforms you connect to. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. Messages are also transmitted over your mobile carrier's network, subject to your carrier's terms.

10. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
